In our complex and rapidly changing global society, education needs to be reformed and reshaped in order to contribute to the development of

humankind. The 6th ICER will address under what circumstances, with what assumptions, to which directions and in what way we could take the initiatives. The major intention of this international conference is to share and exchange ideas, concepts and experiences concerning these questions in the various areas of education.

I hope the conference theme, GLOBALIZATION AND EDUCATION REFORM, would offer you chances to consider the various issues and aspects of education reform. I sincerely hope you could be a part of this conference and share your valuable ideas and experiences on the challenges of globalization and education reform. Once again, I am delighted to welcome you to Seoul, Korea.

I cordially invite you to the 6th annual International Conference on Education Research (ICER) with the theme "Globalization and Education Reforms" on October 20-21 (Thurs-Fri), 2005 at the Hoam Convention Center, Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea.

We, Asians, have very competitive power when we keep our precious cultures and traditions. More than any other times, the leadership of Asia is important in the globalized world. The diversity and energy of Asian countries are our advantages. It is required of us to have reciprocal

understanding, communication and exchange among us for the development of our leadership in changing the world.

The Asia-Pacific region is in the course of reforming schools for the development of each country. I would like to send this invitation to join the exciting gathering of deans from the Asian-pacific region for the establishment meeting of the Asia-Pacific Dean's Association of the College of Education. The Asia-Pacific Dean's Association of the College of Education will serve as a forum, which will facilitate sharing education research outcomes and discussing exchange programs in the Asia-Pacific region.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Seoul.
